What I have Yet to Understand by Abby Cipar is one of the forty-three works of art currently on display at the FJKluth Art Gallery’s exhibition, Sketchbook Creative – Casual Creations.

Based in Akron, OH, Cipar works primarily in soft sculpture and paint media. They are a 2021 graduate of the University of Akron’s Myers School of Art, holding their BFA with a concentration in Painting & Drawing. Taking form as a reaction to personal experiences in queer adolescence, their work seeks to exist as a material culmination of the comfort, care, and acceptance found within safe spaces. The “Remnants” series of small-scale, hand-sewn, soft sculptures began and exists as a way to utilize scrap fabrics and other leftover materials from their studio practice.
