This 16 1/2 inch bronze plate contains an oleograph reproduction in the center featuring the famous 18th century portrait painting of The Blue Boy, by Thomas Gainsborough. The Blue Boy is one of Gainsborough’s famous works, featuring a child that historians believe to be Gainsborough’s nephew, Gainsborough Dupont; however, it is still unknown who the child is. The real version of The Blue Boy is in the permanent collection at the Huntington Library at San Marino, California, where it generally hangs opposite of Pinkie, by Thomas Lawrence.
